Azerbaijan Youth Fund participated in the 4th Global Youth Employment Summit

The 4th Global Youth Employment Summit was realized in Baku at the “Gulustan” Palace on 24-27 September 2008. The worldwide event was organized by Haydar Aliyev Foundation, the Ministry for Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan Republic and YES Azerbaijan Network. Youth Fund was among the initiators to launch YES campaign in Azerbaijan and it is prominently represented in the Youth Employment Summit (YES) National Committee in organizing the Summit.
The summit aimed to learn international experience in youth employment field and build new national strategy of youth employment policy. It brought together 450 participants from 50 countries, 100 participants representing Azerbaijan and 25 of them were selected from Azerbaijan Youth Fund to represent youngsters from rural areas of the country.
The opening ceremony was conducted by the Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan, the co-patrons of the summit Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, the fist lady of Azerbaijan, Mrs. Suzanna Mubarak and other representatives of Azerbaijan’s official structures. The opening was followed by the workshop and plenary sessions which focused on the youth employment issues.

“Global Youth Initiatives” International Conference of Youth Bank Leaders held in partnership with the Community Foundation for Northern Ireland, YES (Youth Employment Summit) Inc., and the Ministry for Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan Republic took place on September 21-23, 2008 t the Crescent Beach Hotel and Leisure, Baku, Azerbaijan.
The conference gathered 7 International YB leaders: Vernon Ringland from the Community Foundation for the Northern Ireland, Hahn Christian from German Youth Bank, Qeshawi Thouqan – Palestine, Simona Cristina Serban – Romania Youth Bank, Maia Tavadze, Zaur Dargalli and Rena Nurmammadova from Georgia Youth Bank, as well as 25 Azerbaijan Youth Fund representatives and EPF staff (total 40 participants).
The Conference aimed to bring together the Youth Bank leaders from around the world to share their experience and to broaden the understanding of the role of ‘Youth Bank leader’ and ‘Youth Bank community work’ as well as to establish a synergy and network among Youth Banks.
